The Lost Gate by Orson Scott Card

I have not read an Orson Scott Card book since revisiting Ender's Game a few years ago. Then I picked up The Lost Gate and fell in love with his new magical world. Poor Danny is teased and ostracized by his extended family because he is a drekka-- a person with no powers. He is tormented by his family until he realizes he is actually a very powerful mage-a GateMage that is now forbidden. Knowing that his family would kill him if his power came to light Danny flees the compound and takes up with a drifter who wants Danny help him to steal electronics. Danny uses his ability to do this but only briefly. He meets a mysterious man who directs him to someone who can teach him how to build greater gates. Can he escape the Gate Thief and his family?

Books!

Alright people time to get the wheels rolling this year. Finally.... The book we aree planning to read is called World War Z and is available at the Eastchester Public Library. I am not sure why but I was charged $0.50 for the book so bring money just in case since the books are on hold for us.

Oh and people who wanted information of the Sony Reader I will put a link to the site
here ----> sonystyle.com
I personally do not have the touch screen one since it was cheaper and just as good. It doesn't work off amazon but rather has its own server so it's inventory grows over time.

Also if you have not joined the group on shelfari yet or have not made the shelfari account I would reccoment doing that in the very near future.

Let's Get a Table!

So I talked to Mrs. Plamieri and in order to get a table for the club fair this year. All Mrs. Ross needs to do is talk to Dr. Capuano about getting a table since we were homeless and forgotten about in last year's Club Fair.

The Summer Reading

So apparently the new requirement for this summer for people entering grades 9-12 is that everyone has to read the book by Mark Haddon, the curious incident of the dog in the night- time.

But Guess what?

Last year we read this in book club last year. :D

In the addition for anyone taking the 11H course next year we have to read the book One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Guess what? It's an awesome movie too!

Anyway I hope you like the new background Mrs. Ross and I picked ouyt during finals week.

It's time for the last meeting of the year :(. We should pick a book or two to read over the summer while enjoying the brownies I made and wishing Phil a Happy Birthday.
